Default Deep Thoughts

Just a random thought. In light of several of my relatives/friends getting DUI's, and speaking with my dad about racing at Mid-A Grand Prix go kart track, I got the idea of a DUI class to younger adults (21+) about drinking and driving. Now i dont mean to preach but I myself try to avoid drunk driving becuase I've driven in parking lots and to be honest, I SUCK big time.

Since the Mid A go karts are relatively safe, i wonder how good/bad an idea would be to let people drink and race and see how much worse they are at reaction time/judgement, just to show them in a public forum. Granted, most people say they are in control and are little angels but we all know thats BS.

Thoughts?

edit: hope i dont sound preachy or righteous in anyway, just an idea i had

they let you drink before driving their go karts? I doubt that, but if they do, I'm down.

you can get a DUI riding a bike. I wouldn't think Mid A would let you drive their karts drunk... but who knows.

That sounds INCREDIBLY dangerous to try to race karts after drinking. I can't imagine any kart track owner would even entertain that idea. I'm sure their insurance policy forbids it. It's probably safer to drive a passenger car drunk (for the driver anyway) as the car has many more safety features to protect its occupants.

hmm i guess it was more along the lines of an actual place designed for this, rather than renting out Mid A....

its tough to get injured at Mid A unless you literally crash directly into a wall at full speed or ram someone. which of course could happen but idk, again its just a thought

Hey Matt...to copy MythBusters, we should have people race go karts while chatting on the cell phone. They may go for that at Mid-A

Just changing the focus, that's a bigger issue IMO

Pretty sure it might be a company policy that you can not drive the karts under the influence of anything. NJMP had this rule in the literature and they even asked us before we raced. I think LVGP and MAGP also have this policy in their clause.

Look at it in this perspective also Matt. Say your driving home drunk and another car hits you, who do you think is going to get in trouble?
