I hear a whine as well on mine especially with the top up... Do you think the change of fluids can change anything?

My drain plug looked very similar two years ago. Because of my HOA and changing auto fluid rules, I had a stealership do it and I asked to see the plug. I'm not saying its 'ok', I just wasn't concerned at the time and neither was the mechanic. Maybe I should be? I don't have an unusual diff whine, I consider the sound normal from having driven/ridden in other s2k. So now I'm subscribed to this thread for more input... just in case.

well i sent the pic to a few honda friends and their opinion is its nothing serious, which was what i was thinking but hey i never saw a bad one so i wasnt sure. my diff is just loud for some reason, gonna let the amsoil set in and hopefully it gets quieter and i can just forget about it, since thats the last piece thats not solved yet.

Something i ran into on my old s2k was i put invidia n1 on and then lower'd it once i took the invidia off i noticed the same noise. However i returned to stock high and it was fine. I personal think it was something with the springs i had on since the springs where tighter i noticed more of a vibrating sound. just thinking outside the box.

thanks for your input man, i have no idea if lowering it does anything to make the rear end louder but its nice to know i am not crazy. hopefully amsoil does the trick. at least after looking at the plug i know its not something that needs immediate attention. i am driving it to florida soon and just wanted the peace of mind when im 1000 miles away.

Lowering the car will change the angle of the 1/2 shafts so I could see where that could possibly make a bit more noise.

Corey, that drain bolt looks pretty normal to me. I wouldn't sweat it at all. Now if you saw CHUNKs of metal then I would be concerned.

yeah when i saw it i breathed i sigh of relief, but i figured id post it and ask around just to make sure, since i had it out anyway. i really can't afford anything extra right now, i have so much to catch up on from last year and im just trying to pay it off soon. looks like i can take it down to florida and have some peace of mind and relax

i will post up if the amsoil makes any difference in noise once i get some miles on it
