Default Front Fender Roll

Ok so I'm trying to get the work done to fit some wider wheels... I've searched a bunch and am gonna take my car up to Ray (S~Factor) to trim my rear fenders and relocate the bumper tab. However he told me there isn't much he can do on the fronts.

Wheel specs: 17x9 +45 with 255 tires on all 4 corners
Lowered on Espelir springs, stock shocks.
Alignment spec: UK ... -1* front and -2* rear

How does rolling the front fender work? Since I will need to keep the fender liner, if I roll the fender up, there wont be anything for the liner to mount to. I read one post about using zip ties to keep it in place? Will I have to flare the fenders or possibly say screw it and get wider fenders? Am I retarded?

Thoughts?

Here is what I have so far. Since I'm lowered on Espelir springs there is barely a 1 finger gap and I drove 2 miles into town and rubbed on every slight dip and bump. Lost a few fender clips but Kevin was graciously able to get me some extras.

Why are you doing away with the front to back stagger?

A few reasons: found a mint set in the color i wanted with RE-11s already mounted for a great price,
wanted RPF1's,
dont like the look of the 17x8 as it is pushed outward, i like the sunken look of the 17x9,
and after seeing CHR!S's and hearing what he had to say (good things) ,
decided to go with them.

I've read plenty of accounts that the nonstaggered setup is still pretty good, even tho there are plenty of differing opinions on stagger vs nonstagger.

you can roll the fenders and the fender liners will still mount up, the liner is rather flexible. mine on the driver side has rubbed a large hole into itself from the tires due to not rolling the fenders

Cut the front liner out where it will rub and use a heat gun to remold it so that it doesn't sag and hit the tires.

You can also rotate your wheels / tires from front to rear therefore making your tires last longer. Small but real benefit.

True, but what about the handling?

good point freq... that normally not brought up in the staggered vs nonstaggered convo, but very true.

yeah it should be interesting others have done it tho so it will work out to some degree. if i had planned this out from the beginning i would have went with coilovers so i could adjust height appropriately as well as have a little stiffer suspension so it doesnt compress as much and possibly rub.

zippy, ill let the pros answer that one

Not to be a PIA but there are quite a number of discussions on this dating waaaaaaay back. i.e. Stagger. Is there a way you can sell one set to replace them with a better front match?

This is one of those discussions that I have seen kicked around by a lot of very knowledgeable people (not me). Just trying to help.
