Default Future S2000 owner in SJ?

Hey guys I have been poking around here for a week or two and wanted to introduce myself.

My name is Jon and I currently own a 91 British Racing Green miata. Trading that one for a silver 99 miata I just picked up in a week or so. Have to finish putting it back together first. haha. I also race a Spec Miata in SCCA road racing mostly in the Mid Atlantic area.

I've always wanted an S2k since I first saw one about 10 years ago, but i'm thinking that within the next 12-18 months or so it may actaully be a possibility. Also looking into the Mini Cooper S cars, I had one for a day last week and I have to say it was really fun! The FWD is something I dont know if i'd like long term though. I like to get a big headstart on large purchases so I know exactly what i'm getting into when the time comes.

Leaning more towards the AP1 for $ reasons and I like the lack of electronic driving gizmos but i'd like to test drive both AP1 and AP2 cars to make a more educated purchase.

I'm in Cherry Hill, NJ and was wondering if anybody local wouldnt mind showing me their car sometime? Kind of walk me through what to look for in a used S and so forth. A ride would be cool too ...its been about 5 years since I drove/got a ride in one of these..

Welcome to the club Jon and good luck with your decision and purchase. We have alot of members from around your area. I agree, drive both the ap1 and ap2 so you can make the best decision.

BronxBomber I may have to take you up on that offer. My cousin lives in Medford so i'm out there quite a bit.

Kamui, nice choice! they really are the best looking miata. If it wasnt for the 19y/o paint starting to fail and a small patch of rust just start to come through the rocker i'd keep it.

Revhi, will do. I work for my uncle occasionally just down the street. He ownes that used car lot between haddonfield rd. and 38 on chapel ave.

Gino do you race??

No, I just try to get out to as many HPDE's as I can (obviously the bank account being the limiting factor ).

I'm planning to be at NJMP Thunderbolt for two days in June, and there's about a dozen or so S2000s that do Pocono North with the DelVal Miata Club in July (I'll be there too). Last year the organizers allowed it, if it's the same again this year, you're welcome to come for a ride-along if you're free.

Try to get into the event with your Miata!!

I'll be an instructor there this year. Just show up, we'll get you on the track one way or another.
