Got Bent Rims?
Wheel Collision Center is AWESOME.
I hit a chunk of concrete the size of a brick while going 70MPH on the highway in my Mini CooperS. I'm surprised the tire did not pop off the bead. The front wheel that hit it took the worst of the damage. It wrecked my the inner passenger front wheel to the point where it was leaking air pretty badly. I was actually shocked the tire was not destroyed and that it actually stayed on the wheel - I hit it that hard. I was able to drive home on it, occasionally stopping to add air with the tire pump I luckily had with me.
Later we dismounted the tire from the wheel, and at that point you could tell that it was a lot more than just the wheel lip that was damaged. The whole wheel was bent and not round. Additionally, when we put the wheel on a tire balancer with no tire on, it wobbled badly. You could tell that the wheel was no longer straight laterally either. Everyone was telling me that the wheel was not repairable.
The wheels were some incredibly rare Rays wheels that have been out of production since 2005. I didn't want to have to buy a whole new set of 4 wheels. So I took the wheel up to Wheel Collision Center in Bath. They have a rating scale when they assess the wheel damage and give you an estimate. And this wheel scored their highest ranking for both bend and wobble damage. After their free assessment, Wheel Collision also basically told me that it's probably not repairable. But it was only a $35 fee if they tried to fix it and failed. So I told them to try it. Long story short, 15 minutes later they had successfully fixed both the bend and the wobble; and they were able to save the wheel. Total cost to fix the wheel was only about $200! That sure beats having to spend $1000+ to buy FOUR new wheels!
Also, if you have BBS wheels with the BBS Diamond Black finish, Wheel Collision Center is the ONLY place in the US that can refinish them with the correct finish.
They also hold several US patents for various wheel repair technologies too.
