great suggestions for future drives
"What events are you talking about?" A gathering of friends at someone's house? A drive by a group of friends on a back road or two? IMHO, we don't have a formal organization at all...only an internet meeting place. There are no ByLaws, officers, dues, profits/losses, etc. As you probly know, the S2KCA does have a real organization and insurance for official events, such as Fall Colors.
If this concerns you, why not put up a post on one of the Forums and get the opinion of others, including Cthree? There probly have been other discussions, if you do a search. I'll look for your post

I have no idea what the liability for events such as ours could be. However, I'd rather be safe than sorry considering how sue-happy our society is.

Thanks for posting the link. There are some excellent observations, esp from the 2 attorneys. I had actually started to follow that thread for the first 8-10 posts, and remember Jim Schmidt's early post: "On the other hand, relax. Life is full of bad stuff that might happen, but probably won't". I agree that it's an overly litigous society and reasonable precautions should be exercised, but I'm not going to lie awake worrying about it.
I'm sorry to see that some of the posters said things like, "You won't see me organizing events any time soon.
"
The smart people who know about the risks/ rewards are the ones who would take precautions in the planning and running of the event. Everyone enjoys an event should take their turn helping to do the organizing.
I printed out the entire 26 pages, but don't expect it to stop me from enjoying our car. In the final result, that's what the lawyers said.

I've witnessed my parents being sued several times for some strange circumstances. Ever have someone decide to slip on your icy pavement and sue you for over $250k?
Having lived through those nightmares, I don't want to ever have a legal matter on my hands if I can help it.
