I probably tripped over the S2000 at the 2000 Philly show...how ignorant of me

If I remember correctly, there were hoards of people over the S2000 at the 2001 show.

Yeah in 2000, they had a nice red one on the floor, and the drooling was apparent!
Last year a dealer out of Doylestown brought down a yellow one with a Comptech blower and some other tricks, but I am not sure if the S will have the same drool factor this year year. But who knows.

ReedZ and I have decided to pass on the auto show in favor of the all-Beethoven concert by the Phildadelphia Orchestra at the new Kimmel Center. I've been eager to see this beautiful new concert hall, and since I'm a Beethoven fanatic, I couldn't pass up the opportunity.

A good choice, Rick! We're going on the 15th for the Tuesday night series...the last iteration of the All-Beethoven. I needed a 3rd ticket for my son...got the very last one. Let me know if you need any dinner spot recommendations, etc.

My wife and I are going to the auto show tomorrow late afternoon. Let me know if I should look out for any of you at the Honda booth

I checked out the show on Sunday.

El stinko...except for the Dodge booth. Dodge had both the 300 Hemi and Charger concepts at the show. That Charger is something else. What can I say, I still love muscle cars.

Ford? No SVT, Roush or Saleen as usual.

Honda? You'll find hoards of people trying to grab a seat in a Spa Yellow S2K. Other than that...boooring! Unless the new Civic Si excites you.

Acura? The new NSX is one sweet machine. But for $90 grand, I'll take an S2K, Jeep Wrangler and a BMW 330i, please.

Jerry,

We have reservations at Toto, a northern Italian restuarant on Locust Street near Broad. Is it any good?

For those of you checking out the car show, consider swinging by the Ibiz car wax booth on the first level for a demonstration.

I swear by this stuff. If you decide to try the wax, let them keep their other products as they didn't impress me. As far as the wax is concerned, it is second to none. The butter-smooth finish on my Silverstone is a testament to the quality (compared to Zymol).

This post marks the last time I'll ever mention the word Ibiz.

Rick- Yes, Toto's was good the couple of times I've eaten there. You may even see the boss (Toto) who resembles Yul Brynner in his prime A friend of mine did the lighting design when it opened...very theatrical and ahead of its time. Should be a good choice and only 2 blocks from the Kimmel. The parking garage just west of Toto's on Locust Street is a reasonable & convenient place to park.

Shark- I agree the AutoShow was not great, but I still always have fun. The collection of classics (Caddies, LaSalles, 59 El Camino, 56 DeSoto, etc) was a hoot. I was actually pleased that Honda had some hi-mileage stuff....4 door Civic hybrid, LNG Civic. How about a stripped Civic for a new beater...retaining its value very well

A stripped Civic -- that's my beater, and it's great. Yesterday, in our brief ice storm, I was driving circles in it around all the jerks who had skidded off the roads. But I'm just not sure whether it was the car or the driver

Thanks for the feedback on Toto, Jerry.
