Actually apple maps got me to a job interview the day it came out, after google put me at the dead end of a road with the same name, so I have nothing against it. Having said that, most definitely for customized turn by turn I would suggest going to maps.google.com on your computer and setting up the route there, then use the app on your phone to get turn by turn. Signing in to your account will allow you to transfer directions from your computer to your phone on google.
