Default Scott Honda

Hi All

Although this post has nothing to do with an S2000 (I traded mine a while back) I wanted to see what people have to say about Scott Honda in West Chester these days.

I used to take my cars to Scott all the time and have always thought they were the best dealer in this area.

Given my recent experience, I have turned 100%.

My Element had a (manual!) transmission failure at 52k. I had the car towed there on July 27th. In the beginning they were really great...they called to let me know it'd need a transmission and that Honda had already stepped up to the plate as far as covering it, due to the low miles on the vehicle. I thought that was typical awesome Honda customer service.

To make a long story short...I still don't have the car back. To make matters worse, I stopped by on Friday and it hasn't moved since being dropped off.

The transmission will have been there for two weeks this coming Tuesday. The service team leader has been telling me how they have too many appointments scheduled and that due to guys calling out he hasn't had a full team in 2 weeks. Finally this week I kinda was pissed and asked him why they haven't stopped taking appointments for a couple days to get caught up. He told me that he had them clear Thursday and Friday to take no more appointments. When I went there Friday, they had a damn valet table setup for people dropping off cars and there were no less than 15 people in the waiting room!

To make matters that much worse, I use my Element to deliver systems for my business and I needed it back for an install tomorrow. To his credit, he said he didn't know that they didn't have me in a rental car, and got me one right away. Now his worst nightmare has happened...the A/C in the Kia Sedona they got me just went out.

Tomorrow is the day I break down and call the GM of the dealership. I've had it.

Has anyone else had issues because of the obvious fact that Scott Honda is becoming too big and can't handle the service appointments they're scheduling?

I'd like for someone to restore my faith, but I think they're too far gone at this point.

i'm finding that happening a lot at dealers lately... for example.. dealers needing 2 weeks lead time for an oil change appt (concordville nissan), more than a week to address a serious creaking in the front end when the wheel is turned (safety issue?!?), etc... they're overbooking like crazy - they must have themselves confused with the airlines

Sounds like every other big business these days - do more with less seems to be the corporate mantra.

Do you have the Hondacare extended warranty? I'm assuming that you do since they are covering it at 52,000mi... The delay might have something to do with the reimbursement rates that Hondacare pays for parts and labor. Perhaps they are so low, that it's not worth it for the dealership to allocate a high-end tech to your trans replacement when they can have them doing more profitable non-warranty repairs and maintenance...

I love Scott because of the people but... I agree... they are too big and the wait is too long for a scheduled appt.

Are you in limerick,PA? Why not pottstown Honda, At least it would be waiting closer to you. Is it warranty work? If so you should have a rental car. If its not warranty work never bother to go to the dealer, always takes forever. I call them up get an estimate and ask when the car will get finished. They never give a satisfactory answer and I always tell them I'll be taking it elsewhere to get it fixed. Clutch oil changes brakes etc..

I've had bad dealings with the Scott HOnda dealerships, especially when it came to buying my s2k. I seemed to get the impression that I wasn't good enough to buy it. Well, when you have the green, your GOOD enough to buy anything.

Anyways, take your Honda to a Mainline Honda dealer. THere is one located in Ardmore. I take mine there every time. They are a great dealer and their service is A+ #1 when I've dealt with them.

Cheers,

M

I am out near Reading now. Reading Honda had a 6 day wait when I called and Scott only had a 3 day wait (supposedly!)

I had a baddddddd dealing with Pottstown Honda when I had my S2000 and vowed to never go back. They are such a hokey little dealer...maybe when they get in the new building and have to compete with the Toyota dealer they'll end up bigger. Though I now see bigger is not always better...

It's a shame Scott is so busy that they can't keep promises...even third, fourth and fifth promises. I used to love that place.

Same here, I always go to Main Line Honda in Ardmore, and they're pretty good. I haven't had anything major done, but they've always been fast and courteous.
