Default Transmission maintenance

I was wondering what the experts on here recommend for maintaining the tranny, such as how often to change the fluid and what to use? And any other tips/tricks?

The manual recommends Honda tranny oil because of additives and such, but is there anything better that you all would recommend?

My 2001 has 34k on it and I do notice some grinding first to second occasionally and I just want to make sure my tranny lasts while its still young I noticed alot of people posting lately about tranny trouble and it has me thinkin about preventive measures...

ok cool. im pretty sure its never been changed on my car before i bought it, and ive put 10k on it since then. so i think i'll have it changed every year when i get it inspected.

i dont have a lift to jack the car up level. how hard would it be to change the fluid jacking up the car from the side?

I need to do my tranny and clutch fluids as well. Want to do them together?

I change mine really frequently, mainly because of track time though. I'll usually do 2 events + street driving and change it before the 3rd event. I do the transmission and the differential fluid at the same time. As I see it, cheap insurance, especially with what the car goes through on the track.

hmm well i have to get mine inspected soon, i think i might just have them change it then, that way i dont have to worry about it. i think if i do that every year im hoping that will be enough.
