I saw it today and enjoyed it. I guess it didn't quite meet my expectations though. As a history graduate, I enjoy watching modern recreations of ancient warfare, but this one wasn't even as good as Troy. OK, I know it wasn't meant to be realistic, but there was way too much slow motion and crazy goofy stuff, particularly the Persian's armor and constumes.

The Spartan's swords were all wrong, and their shields were way to strong. Any bronze shield that could withstand that much damage would have weighed 100 pounds using their technology.

I've been wondering why this film seems to be so hot among young male viewers right now. I guess maybe because it's so manly? You know what I mean. I think this film might be just a tiny bit gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Hey this is California, I don't mind watching something that's a little bit gay. Heck, I thought Brokeback Mountain was a good film.

Saw the movie yesterday and it was pretty good.

I felt that something was missing from the movie though...like it didn't end with a BANG.

i agree. i saw the history channel special on it the night before. the spartans had straight double edged swords, not curvy schimitar type swords. Also, the sheilds were made of wood, with a bronze outer layer only.

and the 'immortals' didnt wear crazy samurai mask's either

its very hollywoodized, but they admitted its made to entertain and not to educate. i still loved the movie.

You got the point. Its not based on the real story but on Franks novel.

I've read some critics in different websites and they have made me laugh out loud, the stupidity of people today, sonce when they are trying to recreate what really happened? Ignorance rules them all.
