Default BEVERLY HILLS COP 4...not as good as 1 but better than 2 and 3

So I caught the Netflix movie BEVERLY HILLS COP 4. I saw the original, originally. After the first, it just really lost the edge...until this 4th instalment.

Living close to DTW, it was cool to see parts of the city used as back drop. This 4th movie was fun and worth the watch. All the original characters return so enjoy the ride. I think this could have done well in wide release.

Its not for kids under 14 on account of language perhaps.

I give it a 7.5/10.

hmm, might give it a shot. Was kinda hesitant after the disappointing sequels, but your review makes me curious. Is the humor still on point?

yes- pretty similar to the prior movies. its got a more serious theme than the prior where comedy was almost forced at times.

Enjoyed this one, like you said not as good as the first one (pretty impossible task imo) but better than 3 for sure. 2 is a solid movie for me.

Only real downside I had was realizing how old they are, including myself. Can't escape time.

Differing viewpoint: Eddie Murphy just is not funny anymore!

Wife & I decided to check out the movie. It turned out as I expected and we could not even watch the whole thing----turned it off with almost 45 minutes remaining and watched Big Bang reruns until bedtime!

I have been saying that Murphy is no longer funny for years now. Fortunately for him, he seems to have managed his finances well so he no longer NEEDS to be funny. It seems that every appearance he makes anywhere, he just sucks up the "comedy royalty treatment" without ever having to perform or even speak. And whenever he does speak, he just is not funny.

Dunno, I recently turned 60 so maybe its me. I guess I should go watch Raw one more time.

You do realize Murphy didn't write the movie, right?

What he could get away with saying in the 80's wouldn't fly today.

Are you sure about that? I saw him listed as Executive Producer, Producer and star. It would not surprise me if he ad-libbed a lot of the dialogue in ALL of his movies.

Either way, he still has not been funny for years and to your point, cannot be funny with other peoples' jokes, as well!

He's listed as a producer, not the producer. Either way, he didn't write it.

I didn't think any of them were comedies, just had some funny bits within them. Sure, it didn't have any banana in the tail pipe moments but it was nice to see the original cast together.
