Billy Bob Thornton's band
Hi,
This isn't about his movies, but I had the chance to attend one of the two concerts he gave in Montreal on Tuesday night. He's been in town filming and decided to get his band together for a couple of shows. He's an adequate singer but his band (3 guitars, bass, keyboards, drums, percussion and female backup singer) really rocks! Their style is kinda folksy southern rock. They performed many selections from their first cd (critically acclaimed 'Private Radio'). Many were written by Billy Bob and another by his brother who passed away many years ago. They also performed some new songs as well as some '60s pop covers, Down In the Boondocks, Hang on Sloopy, and their version of California Dreaming (heavy rock arrangment) brought the house down.
BB seemed to genuinely enjoy himself and would move to the side of the stage when he wasn't singing to let his musicians take the limelight. He also got very personal with us in discussing his past drug addiction and his wife, 'I'm the luckiest man in the world!' It was a very enjoyable evening, and I will be picking up the cd soon.
Peace,
