Your poll options did not really cover my opinion.

I'm not sure if I liked it or not. I watched it last night and was distressed by the intensity of the violence - the shocking and helpless situation those soliders faced.

This is one film to forever put you off from joining the military.

For my local market, I have our company sponsor Friday nights in the movie theatre and I went last week to mingle with some of the patrons. Within 30 minutes or so, a woman comes out of the BlackHawk Down theatre and is overventilating and her face was absolutely white! She wanted to leave and said she could'nt take the violence in the film!

Another woman, about 10 minutes or so later, came out in tears and ran to the rest room!

What the hell is with that movie?

I thought it was a very good movie, but it is not for everyone. It is quite a violent film, but i thought it was very well done. It did a good of showing what the fighting was like back there in 1993.

I was in the Persian gulf at that time and it was crazy too think that Somalia was happening at the same time .......it was hard for me to take some of it in!! I actually felt disorientated at times.....it was a good movie, but definitely not for everyone!!

saw the film this Sat. on the big screen with my fiance'.

i thought the film was excellent. it conveyed (as best a film can) what it was like to be there with Delta and the Rangers. At the same time, I will tell you this. It took me a good half an hour after seeing the film to get "re-oriented". The film was very, very powerful. I went from being charged, to wanting to cry, to anguish, joy, remorse, and pride. Private Ryan also affected me tremendously but this was even more powerful. I don't know if its because of 9-11 or simply the fact that most of those Rangers are of my generation and are my age.

I have had trouble relaying to folks how I feel about the film. On one hand, I think every adult in this country should see the film. It should be mandatory viewing to anyone who doubts the resolve of the armed forces and perhaps just as importantly, the need for a clear mission and an unwavering commitment to accompllish that mission. The fact that these kids were not provided with LAV's or Spectre gunships becuase of a combination of circumstances, shoddy planning, and politics is unforgivable. At the same time, the honor and bravery that those men displayed overshadows all that.

At the same time, I wince at the thought of having people witness that kind of horror. I am not ashamed to say that as a grown, mature 29 year old male, I had trouble sitting through all of that. I'm not sure that everyone could handle it.

Finally, while I am from a Marine Corps. family (Semper Fi), I came out of that film with a new found sense of pride and sense of awe for the men of Delta force and the Rangers as a whole. You guys are something special and my hat is off to you.

Actually, it's off to all of you who have served or are serving now. Thank you.

I'm glad they didn't show the men getting dragged through the streets.

I must say I disagree with this statement. If anything it made me want to join more. The pride that I felt for our soldiers doing what "they had to do" and the bond between the soldiers is very appealing. Hey....it might be a bad job, but someones got to do it.

fyi - I'm the only one that voted 'did'nt like it'.

this is in no way a reflection of the story or any lack of support for the real individuals portrayed in the movie. I could write a few pages on why this movie was only hollywood made for the masses in my book.
