Anyone watched Golden Compass? how was it?

I saw it with some friends. I didn't really want to see it. Never read the book or knew anything about it.

If you saw the movie,
I thought it was interesting that if a person hurts another person, their demon feels it. If a demon hurts another demon, their owners feel it as well. So there for, if two people are engaged in ... does that mean that their demons are also having ... ? When they are entirely two different animals?
