On recommendation of a friend I watched it, I thought it was excellent over all, especially the story/character developement and how it played out. Tension you could cut with a knife, well cast as well.

Did not enjoy the shakey camera work, did not add to anything, only detracted from a 8/10 film

wasn't as impressed as i thought i'd be.

knowing a movie won 'best film' at the oscars seems to more often than not create an expectation that can't be met when you actually see it.

decent enough, though

No story, innacurate portrayal of the military and its policies, absolutely no chain of command, random drunk fighting scene, unlikeable characters, completely unbelievable bomb disposal scenes, rediculous sniper scene, EOD team clearing a building by themselves, and a completely rediculous rambo gung ho into the heart of Iraq scene?

Sorry, this movie was a complete and utter disappointment in terms of a war movie. Maybe if it was just about some guy addicted to coke, no war, it would have worked. I can't believe it got nominated, yet alone won for Best Picture. Hollywood really does hate James Cameron that much...

Avatar was pretty lame too. Take away the [stunning] visuals and you have.... a boring story on its tenth trip through the recycling bin. Best Picture needs to be more than that.

it was done pretty well, it was not a documentary so i did not expect it to follow the exact rules and regulations of the military. i enjoyed it but winning all those awards... not sure about that. i agree with the above about avatar (lame other then the graphics).
