Default Last Samurai

wow, im really late in seeing this movie but I thought it was awesome. The Japanese culture makes our so called American culture (what little there is) seem pathetic. I thought it had a lot of deep meaning to the film and would go see it again. Anybody else find it that great...? I want to move to Japan now

I thought the whole beginning of the movie before he saw the samurai sucked ass. after that I thought the movie was simply amazing, and I was brought to tears.

right after the movie, I literally went out to my car and wrote the following poem down:

you can spend your whole life searching
for the perfect blossom
and it would have been a good life
for in the end
you will realize
they were all perfect.

it's taped to my visor.

I would definitely see it again. They should show this movie to children in school. There are so many good lessons to learn.

One of the year's best movies, what a performance by Cruise.. It was really touching and enlightening at the same time.. "I will miss our conversations"

i agree its an awesome movie. i'm glad the chick and cruise didn't get it on. made their subtle relationship seem much more meaningful.

also, its funny how the grass is greener on the other side. its easy to get intoxicated by other cultures and want to find out and learn more. for example, i have a few friends in japan and korea who are so into american culture... they're always asking me how they can get their hands on a pontiac firebird... the old old ones with the bird painted on the hood

Good Point. I don't have children so that aspect never crossed my mind!

One of the few movies that "brought tears to my eyes" ok they leaked just a little.

Great movie, its right up there with Lion King and Bambi, in sadness factor that is.
