I thought pans labyrinth was made amazingly well! i really enjoyed it, probably one of the best made movies i've seen in years, just because of the originality in the plot and the ferocity with which the story unfolds

saw PL this weekend. definitely not what i expected, but enjoyable nonetheless. almost like two movies in one. following the subtitles and the movie itself was surprisingly effortless as well.

Just saw "Letters". It was interesting and I liked it but I give it faint praise. It is highly overrated, goes on way too long, and if you saw Flags of Our Fathers, it mirrors the picture and you sort of see the same scene but from the Japanese side.

Its nice to see something like this filmed in Japanese and all, but I don't get how people think it is brilliant or that memorable. The only thing real unique is the fanatcism for the Emporer, the Empire, and a sense of honor, otherwise its just another war movie and not that special.

Eastwood goes out of his way to show that this sense of honor and dying for the empire was often misplaced and not felt by everybody.
It sets up real early letting you know they are outnumbered and cut off and will fight to the last man. Then it takes about two and a half hours to get to that last man.

Saw Pan's Labyrinth for the 2nd time with friends. I still love this movie. What is weird is that 4 out of 6 of my friends hated it. They believe war and fairy tales do not mix. I think they couldn't stand the spanish language being played with english subtitles on the screen. The movie theater was nearly packed which shows it has either received good word of mouth or the critics review has caught their interest to go see it.

yeah i know of people that didn't like the movie too (pan's). i think a good reason was probably the marketing of the movie -- judging by the previews and stuff, you'd think the movie was about a dark fantasy. kinda, but not really.
