It Might Get Loud
Saw this on Saturday. . .
A brilliant idea, with some good musicians, but the film itself is all over the place, with barely an inspired bit to be had.
If you had Jack White, The Edge, and Jimmy Page in a room. . . wouldn't you just let the camera roll?
I fear that either:
1. The filmmaker and editor didn't have a clue.
2. These three guys are better musicians than they are movie stars (who'd da thunk?)
Utterly disappointing. Those of you who hate these guys will be bored to tears, with no trainwreck to witness, and those of you who love these guys will be bored to tears, with hardly any inspirational moments (playing, personal, or otherwise) to grab a hold of.
There's some interesting factual information, but it's presented as document, not as anything supporting their playing. . .

In comparison to Rattle & Hum.. that much worse? Big U2 fan here.
Rattle & Hum had a lot of concert footage. . . and while Rattle & Hum was at times aimless and a bit self-serving, at least during the performances, you had some focus.
I didn't get that at all with It Might Get Loud. The performances were short, a bit pointless, and self-serving to the director, not to anybody else (the performers or the audience).
I saw a very long trailer for it but I was not interested. Partly because, while I like lots of music, I have never been that interested in the people who make it mostly because I just can't handle ego maniacs.
That said, the dude from the White Stripes looks like kind of an interesting person, but not enough to make me watch it. I'd rather just listen to a White Stripes album while I take a drive.
