Minority Report
There is no minority report, or is there??? I only went to see it cuz Steven Spielberg directed it...too bad it wasn't up to par. They overdid it with the computer screens and product placement. If that is the future of 2054 I don't want to be in that future dimension. There are some ha-ha parts. I couldn't watch when Officer John Anderton had the eye surgery (blindfolded and stuff) and had to feel his way to the fridge. Instead of finding a normal sandwich he ate a sandwich full of maggots. That was weird, how can he not smell the sandwich if it was that bad? I'm still working on my gay theory for this movie. I make up gay theories during movies if I get too bored.
I just saw the movie yesterday. I cannot believe some of you did not like it! I agree with some of the parts they should have left out....they had no important purpose in the movie...except the time I saw it, the audience kept yelling (pretty funny to me) at those parts. So maybe those parts kept the people curious to see what happend next.
The dumb parts were:
russian surgeon
Tom Cruise being blindfolded and the refrigerator-audience thought it was so funny
Precrime creator lady kissing Tom Cruise
part where Tom Cruise escapes from his car and falls through a window in a room where naked ladies are practicing "yoga." One of them asks Tom "are you all right" where should be asking herself that
This movie did not bore me at all. I liked how Tom figured out the mystery and why humans were such flaws just like the dective said "there is always a flaw-human"
Go SEE this movie!
I especially like that club that Tom's friend had in the movie where people can go and experience virtual reality like: the guy having girls "do" him and the guy who was being awarded by people around him
This movie has lots of action and mystery to keep you watching. I would rate this movie 9.4

myuuki, so you're saying you didn't like the movie because...
1. They overdid it with the computer screens and product placement?
if you see how exponentially technology has grown in just 10-20 years, just imagine 50 years from now, if they keep up the pace. i know for a fact that they toned down the future because Spielberg wanted the reality to be as realistic as future and not put in flying cars & etc and then over do it.
as for product placement, what do you see everywhere? on the internet, on bldgs, even when you're in a public bathroom in a restaurant...there are advertisements everywhere! what you saw in the movie probably will happen in the future (or something similar to it). the same way websites store cookies to remember you next time you visit, it's not too far-fetched to say that they can scan your retina to find out your consumer preferences.
as quoted on either the making of the minority report or on the discovery channel, "we will be lucky if we have 15 mins of privacy in the future".
2. "I couldn't watch when Officer John Anderton had the eye surgery (blindfolded and stuff) and had to feel his way to the fridge."
in order to NOT GET CAUGHT, he HAD TO replace his eyes. what else are you going to think of? same as in A.I. when Gigolo Joe was going to be framed with murder, he had to take the chip out of his neck or shoulder. it's a common theme. in the future, when we are placed with chips in our body (which will happen, whether it be in our lifetime or not), there are going to be people who will carve the chips out in order to avoid whatever they're running from. yeah it was gross, but he had to do what he had to do.
3. "Instead of finding a normal sandwich he ate a sandwich full of maggots. That was weird, how can he not smell the sandwich if it was that bad?"
did you go "ohhhhhhh gross!" when he acidentally grabbed the wrong one? that was the fun & disgusting reaction spielberg probably wanted. it showed what a bad state of affairs he was in. i'd guess he was too traumatized (having had underground surgery with a former ex-con!) & maybe it screwed up his five senses. either ways, it was humorous & disgusting.
i personally liked minority report a lot (and have a lot of respect for steven spielberg & all his work) and dont agree with your reasons for disliking the movie. did you not see the deeper picture that they were trying to manifest? imo, it has to do with "do you choose your own destiny or is it already choosen for you" or the general theme of pre-crime. but if it's your preference to disliking science fiction, then i totally understand as i'm not a big fan of crude humor & comedies & everybody has different opinions & prefs. BUT if it's simply stated for the reasons you've stated so far (and probably some more like it)... i wanted to come here and rebute your reasons!
(as an avid spielberg fan) that's all.

ps...if you had no other reasons for liking the movie, you HAD TO LIKE the fact that Tom Cruise &
Collin Farrel
were in it & samantha morton was so spooky looking, it was awesome!

Oh yeah. Remember those robot spiders used to identify people? It was funny how they were interrupting people
1) a couple arguing
2) some guy and girl "doing" it
3) the girl who was scared of it
Before the movie started, it showed some previews for upcoming movies.
1) When it was showing the preview for "Red Devil" with Anthony Hopkins in his mask looking like he was from Hannibal, the audience kept saying "OH NO, WHY."
2) When it was showing the preview for "Swimfan" with some slutty girl who does it with a guy and then she humiliates him and his life, I felt like punching that girl!

I fell asleep too. I may have been overly tired, but the movie didn't hold my attention...
