this franchise (especially the first one) holds up IMHO. give it 20 more years and then revisit it....
or simply explore other storylines or other Genres alltogether...nothing more 80's feeling than a crazed, half-spectral, lunatic hacking some teen aged miscreants apart

Yeah, I'll more than likely see it but I'm keeping my expectations low. Saw an interview with the guy playing Freddy and he said that they're going to go for a more "real" approach. Whatever the hell that's suppose to mean.
Growing up watching all these movies from the 80's, I do find it sad that hollywood doesn't want to gamble and try to introduce something new into horror. Instead they'll just keep re-hashing movies/characters that they know will bring in an audience.
