I remember reading about how Pierce Brosnan was really unhappy with the direction the movies were going and how it started out relatively well [Goldeneye] and then just progresses further and further into absurdity [Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough]. He wanted to do a gritty, more realistic/humanistic approach to the Bond character, like how Ian Fleming had originally written. Obviously he was never given that chance and ultimately he had to quit and be almost a sacrifice so that Daniel Craig could film the Bond movie that Brosnan had always wanted to do.
Interesting! I didnt know that... i really, really liked Goldeneye but thought that the 2 after where just dumb. I love the new direction they are taking.

And im with you i would have really liked to see Brosnan's take on a more realistic bond.
