No threads on it yet? I read it was an homage to ET but it had a slightly more mature feel to it. No gore but some blood splashes. Well made. Two thumbs up from me. Well, one-and-a-half. A few too many explosions "just because." A few too many heavy-handed coincidences.

It's okay; sort of like a very pissed off E.T. meets Cloverfield.

Looks like a plotless blockbuster to me. No interest in actually seeing it

You'd have to like the non-ET aspects to enjoy it -- the interactions between the kids, their parents, and a super 8 movie they make. The movie wasn't about the ET, not directly, and that's part of its charm to me.

It was well-done, but it's fundamentally J.J. Abrams doing Close Encounters (with the said heavy dose of Cloverfield).

"Super 8" was good but waaaaaay overhyped.

All my friends were freaking out saying it makes you feel like a kid again.

I dunno...adults were mostly bad actors and the 'monster' needed to be more of a threat (army guys were scarier than the monster.)

7/10

I really liked it. It borrows a lot from other movies you have seen before but was well made and the kids actors are pretty good. I also liked the 1979 feel. You know what will happen in the end, but it is much better at getting there than the average summer movie.

Pretty good film, caught it in imax. The acting from the children is surprisingly strong and the story is pretty interesting. I would actually compare to a Sandlot or Goonies before I compared it to ET. Ending was kind of cheesy, but on the whole definitely worth seeing.
