Search suggested this is not a re-post. Just out on Blu-ray/DVD here in the UK although the movie dates back to 2007.
Based in Rio, focusing on the police and their role in the urban deprivation and social violence previously covered in the film City of God [which makes an ideal movie to watch beforehand].
Narrated from the point of view of an experience BOPE Captain, it follows two rookie cops and their route into BOPE, the unit referenced in the movie's title.
Unrelenting in its depiction of the violence meted out by the drug dealers and police in the favela's/slums whilst showing the hypocrisy of those who provide the demand for the dealer's wares. It is based on the experiences of ex-BOPE officers and is set during the backdrop of a real BOPE operation to clear a slum prior to a visit by the Pope.
Thought the international trailers were poor but a better one can be found here. As it is a Brazilian movie it is filmed in Portuguese.
