I'm glad I had 3d glasses on because they kind of covered my blubbery man-tears.
also, our theater played the short as well. i was reading on imdb that for digital movies they have separate files for each part (makes sense when you hear it, right?)...and that the theater would have to add the short in to make sure it played before up. guess a lot of them forgot.
Loved it as well. I am a fan of Pixar movies and really loved Wall-E last year. How you can make a movie that is a love story about a lonely robot that is beautiful is not easy to do, but somehow they managed to pull it off.
Yes "Up" can be syrupy sweet, but it is also beautiful and touching in a way that is hard to describe. The first ten minutes and the scene with the dog that others have pointed out are really moving. It ten seconds they capture the way dogs are loyal, devoted and unconditional love giving animals and the way the animation displays the dog's expression is perfect. They (Pixar) seem to know how to hit every note perfectly.
Its a shame all movies can't be this good. Pixar seems to have the most talented and creative people in the movie industry.
