Default Camp out at the Dragon

Going back up to dragon May 14-17, 2020. Doing the social distancing up there that weekend camping. With many of the lodging places closed many either camp outs or do day trips. It’s busy from mid morning to late afternoon after that it’s really peaceful and quiet. Really get great runs in on the dragon and surrounding roads. The area should open up by the Memorial Day Weekend. Again everyone be safe and enjoy. Later BD

I've made several runs recently. For a while it was totally deserted, but things have really picked up lately. Local LEO's seem to be trying to make up for lost revenue the last couple months, they're everywhere. There was a cop running radar probably 3-5 miles into the dragon coming from the TN side last weekend. He was nestled into a pulloff right at the end of one of the higher speed sections.

Thanks for the heads up! Making a quick day trip tomorrow with a small group so I'll be sure to let everyone know.

Was he sitting with the KilBoy camera person?
Came through that stretch at almost 65 to look up and see the sheriff sitting in his SUV. Wife waved I kept my concentration on the road and stayed on my side without any tire squeal. Didn't come after me.

Yes the LEO now hang out by the photographers on the dragon. Saw them at different locations all day Saturday till around 8 pm. NC is still closed and not looking to reopen until mid June. Talked with a Wildlife officer Saturday evening. Traffic both motorcycles and car groups are picking up during the day. Evening be safe and take care. Later BD
