Ah excellent that you're able to make it! We plan on leaving Friday morning but most likely going to jump on the BRP around Asheville and take that all the way to MM1 before heading on towards Fontana Village. Depending on stopping for lunch and overlooks etc, it'll be late afternoon early evening before making it. Depending on when everyone eats dinner or hangs out afterward will hopefully catch up with you then.

I am also planning to be there around 1pm Friday. Might be up for a mid-day drive if anyone wants to go.

Should be leaving Newberry, SC round 9am headed to Clemson; then to Highlands via 28; then Franklin catching Wayah Road to 129 where I may loop around Lake Santeetlah (don't think I've done that bit) and finally going the back way into FVR (1st time this route too) via Yellow Creek Rd, Old Field Gap, Rhymers Ferry Roads. Right at 6 hours would put me there early evening with stops and such.
Any suggestions about the back way in? Things to watch out for? Heard the roads aren't in the best shape back there. Google has them looking alright though, what I can see at least.

The roads are fine going the back way to Fontana. Most of us don't drive fast through there because there are a lot of residences. There also tends to be a lot of debris in the road (tree limbs, grass clippings, gravel).

Looking forward to seeing you in a few weeks.

Made a bet with Tim (2000@53) he being a Penn State grad and me being the Auburn fan. They played last weekend and the Tigers got their ass handed to them by them Nittany Lions. So Friday afternoon or evening I will be taking them for pizza and beer at Tapoco Lodge. Of course any of you are more than welcome to join in on the pizza and beer but on your dime. Love you all but not that much. Post up if you are interested in joining in.

Would love to join up with you guys there if you end up going that night, pretty sure we can make it if we don’t take too much time on the BRP

Nothing like driving 9 hours to collect on a bet!! I'll be coming in with Ken around 2:30. Good chance my son will be coming along for his first dragon trip!! Look forward to seeing everyone and some classic Honda's!
