Lucky you - long hours, but with "warm" fringes.
I spent 17 hours out in the cold top kicking contractors and running crew. Managed to slip on the ice at mid-night last night to bring my adventures in utility work to a sudden, pain inflicted halt. Managed to nurse myself out of the woods and back home for rest
, only to arrive at work today to find things in good order and most all accounts back in service
I know what you are saying, with regard to the "Beating"...God forbid, anyone getting hurt...especially when you are out in this kind of weather, so frozen you can't even think, and worst of all...it's pitch black, snot is running, and your eyes are frozen shut...and you are attempting to restore 13,000 volts of power, to some 90 year old person that hasn't had heat.. ( electric )...for 20 hours...that lives 2 miles down some dirt road, back in the woods... Just about sums it up, doesn't it Dave...
....and after all this bitching, and moaning, and cussing...you still feel wonderful, about yourself, for what you have done !!!
What a job..."HUH".....
As much as I b*tch at Dominion Power, they keep the lights on (most of the time) and they never get thanked when we have a storm and the power stays on, just gritching when we have a power outage. Some jobs are just thankless (but shouldn't be).
