I'm sure a dealership would take it in on a trade-in without much care or interest.
Yeah, but you're going to take a hefty hit on trade.

They know. They may not care yet, but they will soon.

People buy from out of state dealers all the time. I have seen $8500 off of a brand new 07 Z06. Deals are out there.
Damn, local dealers here still have at least $15,000 markup

If I'm LUCKY I might get $21 for it private party. I am expecting $19 on trade.

In IL they only tax on the diffence between the cars, so even though I still owe money on the S, they subtract the full trade-in value from the purchase price of the new car before caclulating sales tax. So that's about $1400 savings.

I can live with $600 difference for the convience.

Oh, damn that's not nearly as bad as I would have expected.

We don't give shit for trade in value on S2000's right now. The local market is flooding with them.

I wouldn't pay over MSRP not for a corvette, and not for an S2000.

Hell, I've never even paid MSRP for ANY car.
