I've been more guilty of that here... of course, people plan meets for 6pm in Tacoma, which is a nearly impossible drive. 2 hours of creeping along in traffic just isn't worth it.

But I'd drive to Indy (120 miles) for a meet when I was in Fort Suck.

There's a big difference in driving approx 2 hours for, versus a 30-45minute drive.

If a meet is outside of a 30min drive for someone, 90% of the time they don't go.
