The antibiotics have calmed it down enough for them to drill tomorrow so I hope that will finally remove this jack hammer from my head. If not, I'm seriously considering a head-ectomy. <ouch> Or, cheering the Mayan's on.

_Every_ president from Carter to Obama has made a major speech declaring the need for energy independence and put forward a plan. If we had implemented Carter's plan, we would already be independent from outside energy sources. As you move up through each president the dates move deeper into the future and we were closer to independence in Carter's day than we are now.

But I'm sure we'll get it right this time. I'll be running my S on soybeans at this year's Dragon.

Absolutely correct.

Calendars are tricky things. If only the earth spun a whole number of times in during one revolution of the sun and the moon's period divided evenly into a year.

Of course, the world was never going to end when the Long Count calendar ends. All four of the Mayan calendars are cyclical. Just like the other three, when the Long Count comes to an end all that happens is it starts over again.
