96 mile from Fontana Village to Fork Mountain - (the far west leg of the triangle). Google maps give 2 hr drive time, so that would likely be an 10 am to 4 pm drive - if we do it on Saturday I'm all for it - If not - I will be planning on staying somewhere near Lexington Wed. night and do the drive on the way down on Thursday!

With the weather we have had the past couple of days the DT will probably have a large amount of both salt and sand residue on the surface making it a very slick road. The portion that runs just past Brushy Mtn. Prison is relatively new asphalt, if I remember correctly, and with the salt and sand will be at best, treacherous. If you do decided to run it start with a FULL TANK as there is nothing around in that area.

Coming from PA, sand and salt don't bother me too much, though I don't like the salt on the car. Year before last I drove back in a late spring snow storm in W Va. - not fun!

I'm buttin' in where I don't belong... But are some of you talking about hitting Devil's Triangle now, while others are talking about it like its a thought for WTD '09 driving options? I'm confused just reading folks posts here, I guess...

Sorry, I wasn't real clear on date.

I'm talking of a run to Devil's Triangle on Friday or Saturday of WTD.

With further research I'll provide the routes from Fontana Village.

Should be a NO GLOW run

Checked out google maps - 204 mile round trip from Fontana Village- 5 hr 21 min - figure 6.5 hrs with lunch break and two gas/restroom stops (my mind is young, but atlas my bladder is old)

I'm really up for this - a nice days drive

For all that want to let's plan this as a Saturday run, leaving Fontana Village when the group "Slays The Dragon"!

We'll just continue on to "Devil's Triangle"
