I'm coming from Michigan but going down on Tuesday, at least that's the current plan.

Conflicts are resolved. I will be there Friday and Saturday, in my usual haphazard manner. I look forward to seeing all of you!

Default Question about the packing list: FRS radio shopping

I see 'FRS radio' on the packing list for the trip. Any tips on what to look for and avoid when shopping for these things? I don't have one and if I pick one up for this trip it'll likely sit in a closet for years. So I'm looking for 'good enough' at a reasonable price (I know spending too little on these kinds of things is a waste.) Any recommendations? I'm looking at the Midland GXT1000 but can't tell whether it's 'fine' or 'dead end.'

Any advice?

Bonus random side note: We went to Universal's Islands Of Adventure as part of a family vacation last week. We rode 'Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure' and had a great time with it. There were multiple points on the ride where I said to myself 'This is just like my S2000!'

I have three of the Motorola t-200 and they do okay for me. The range is good, but audio quality is questionable. You are welcome to barrow one of mine for the weekend if you would prefer not to spend the money on one you won't use for a while.
