Default Dinner Fri/Sat

Just wanted to get some feedback from everyone concerning dinner(s) Fri/Sat nights.

Unlike our last Dagonball we don't have restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The hotel has expressed an interest in us using their cateringbanquet facility for at least one of our meals. Is there any interest out there in this? If we have one catered meal the hotel will comp the vendo space for the vendor expo. A 475.00 value.

Please weigh in.......

Thanks!

What sort of costs are we looking at, and how much choice are we getting? Also, do you have any idea on the quality of chow they serve up? I've seen some pretty nasty stuff from hotel catering.

If the cost and quality are acceptable, my vote would be to find a nice (big) restaurant friday (drive there), and cater on saturday, since saturday night will end up being the recap event. We could roll dinner, any prize raffles, and possibly a slideshow of anyones digital camera pictures (provided equipment/facilities are available) from the weekend and/or DB Run '01.

I meant to also say...

Since everyone lounged around talking in our "nook" last time on saturday night, we could just meander from dinner to the lounge area after dinner... and talk stupid all night!

According to mapquest there are at least 5 or 6 restaurants withing 1/3 mile of the airport. I'd consider this to be walking distance, but maybe I'm weird . No clue what they are, might be fast food joints for all I know. Hard to believe there's not a good restaurant in the nearby vicinity of an airport.

For those driving in Friday night, it might be good to have a catered dinner, especially if it can be set up for several hours ( to accomidate people arriving at different times).

I vote for dinner "out" Friday night (on-your-own or informal groups kind of thing) and catered dinner on Saturday. I like the idea of doing raffles, "roasts", etc. after a group dinner Saturday night.

Would we have a central room/place to "play" on Friday night as well? Let's do the "wine/beer" tasting thing again....always a hit!

I vote for the "catered" dinner on Saturday and leave Friday up to each individual. See if you can find someone (former guest/client) to give a recommendation on the service/food available there. If its decent, it would be great to have it there (hotel) and not have to drive anywhere else.

Group dinner Friday night, catered dinner Saturday night (if the food sounds appetizing).

Hey guys and gals

The plan at this point is to have some sort of buffet style dinner Sat. in conjunction with the Vendor Expo. The Expo will probably began 4-5 and dinner 7ish after dinner we'll have the banquet facility till midnight for more socializing and stuff. Anyone interested in an open bar? or BYOB? There's a wedding reception in the hall next door with a live band........ maybe we can all just dress nice and crash their party!!

I need to finalize some sponsorship before I know for sure what the dinner plans will be.

Comments?

Thanks!

Oh and dinner Friday is up to you.
