Emergencies at RTD 2017
While I hope there is no need for it, it seems every year I could have used it. I will have some specialized vehicle recovery equipment with me this year. Seems there was always someone who needed to be pulled out of a ditch, during a light off-pavement incident.
So lets post any issues here on this thread, as we know communications in the area are often a challenge. Breakdowns, mechanical issues, stuck vehicle, etc.
Please keep the chatter to a minimum on this thread, as it will be used as a tool for the week. I will check it often.
I am in room 250 (should be easy to remember this one)
Should you post an emergency, please post your exact location. Also list your cell number, or PM it to me.
If you have useful information to add to this thread such as local fire, police, tow etc. phone numbers, please add them here.
Lets be safe and professional and not cross the double yellow anywhere in the area, and with any luck, the white line

Emergency Information
Given the somewhat remote location of the event, we want you to be aware of what to do in case of an
accident or other emergency. Cell phone coverage is poor to non-existent for most of the area.
First, if possible,immediately go to Fontana Village, the Harley Davidson Store or
Deal’s Gap. Fontana Village has First Aid personnel at the resort.
If you're not on The Dragon but in Tennessee, contact the Monroe County Sheriff at (423) 442-3911.
On the Tennessee side of the Cherohala Skyway, the Tellico Ranger Station, located at 250 Ranger Station
Road, Tellico Plains, TN 37385 (423) 253-2520.
In North Carolina but not on the Dragon, the Graham County Sheriff can be reached at (828) 479-3352.
On the North Carolina side of the Cherohala Skyway; the Cheoah Ranger Station located at 1133
Massey Branch Road, Robbinsville NC 28771, (828) 479-6431
There is a TVA Police station located at the top of the Fontana Dam near the Visitor's Center.

Just one more reason why we always carry an INREACH for those areas of no cell coverage
