The lodge is better that the cabins only if you don't drink.

Scoots.... sometimes your choice in friends leaves a lot to be desired!
You should be happy that the OKI group has taken you under its wings!
Determine how fast you are able to drive, and DO NOT exceed that limit. If you're not comfortable going fast and pushing the car, DON'T. If you're experienced, understand your car's limits, and are trying to have fun, do so, but be safe and like has been said DO NOT CROSS THE DOUBLE YELLOW.
Participate in Bama Dave's Newbie Dragon run on Friday morning. It's a great introduction to the road.
If you're interested in burning across the mountains and testing the upper limits of your passenger's intestinal fortitude, drive with a fast group. If you're really only interested in lunch, and maybe a nap after, find the blue CR with Mugen wheels/exhaust and stay on his bumper (not hard to do).

Just watch for some of the older S2000 drivers on the dragon. They might surprise you when they come up on you on those great mountain roads and want you to pull off so they can go pass you. Later BD
