Gas Up
Folks, I don't know what you're hearing at home but there's a problem with gas availability here. The possibility of gas shortages from hurricane Ike has caused a run on gas in western NC.
Locally, many stations are out of gas. When you're coming in be sure to fuel up on Knoxville or Alcoa or, coming in the other direction, around Bryson City.
Please post any news you have about gas availability to this thread.
See you soon.

Excellent. We are hearing that gas is available in Robbinsville and at Tallassee on the other side of the Dragon.
Deals gap continues to be Bikes-only gas this weekend. Plan accordingly.
Prices have gone up. We saw a 40 cent rise from this morning to this afternoon at Tallassee.

It was a little iffy here in Central NC the past few days, but all the local stations seemed to get deliveries this afternoon, Popeye. At worst case, you might have to go to Robbinsville for fuel, like we did. Wasn't a huge deal.
In the Research Triangle, where I work, there was no premium, at home, here in Mebane, premium was all you could get. As I said though, not too bad, and we, at least, didn't have any lines.
