Default Getting prepared for the Dragon

First part... how many people are going to mask the front end of their cars? I bought my S in Maryland and drove it to South FL. I ended up with a few new rock chips and wanted to avoid that again. I was tempted to pick up some CF wrap or something cool and wrap the front end to protect it but I know to get it looking decent, I would need to take off the front bumper which I dont want to do. So is anyone going to be running a masked front end?

I have done a few long road trips to car meets in the past, but its been a while. I know there was a good thread on the forum about what to bring with you when you are going on a decent road trip but I couldnt find it after many searches.

Other than making sure the car itself is in good condition, I plan on bringing my floor jack, coolant hoses, oil, coolant, hand tools, just to make sure that I have what I need incase of a failure or breakdown(or anyone else in the group). Billman mentioned a spare key in another thread, which I wouldnt have thought of before.

But is there anything else that is not obvious that the Dragon veterans would suggest to bring?

we use a product called trakk tape to mask the car for travel and slalom events. Check their website.

and don't forget a second key.

There's a few list threads floating around. They make a good read for picking stuff to bring.

https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/110...to-the-dragon/

https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/798...on-the-dragon/

My list:

In the car:
sunscreen
hat or two
radio
glass cleaner
quick detailer
towels
flashlight
paper map of the area
tire pressure gauge
hand sanitizer

Food:
beer
water
snacks
marshmallows
(if Canadian) ketchup chips

Etc:
spare key
cash
camera(s)
jackets for the weather (70s to 30s)
gloves
small toolkit
duct tape

Also, beer, wine, bourbon, or cigars depending on what social functions you want to get into.

In general, food is scarce, it gets really dark, and there's barely any cell phone coverage. Climate fluctuates wildly so bring a bit of everything.

I've been doing this for a number of years and the main thing I bring is...cash and credit cards...hard to go wrong with either of those.

I've never taped up the front of the car. Why someone would put tape over the entire front of their car to avoid a minor nick, I don't really understand. A serious rock chip will go right through masking tape anyway.

If you want to avoid rock chips, back off. Rocks don't generally just fall out of the sky, they are kicked up by a car in front. Increase your following distance and you will avoid 99.9% of rock chips.
