I believe they say on the website that it comes with 3 backs (the skeleton case is one of those 3). Nope, only the waterproof case. I'm not sure where I saw the three different backs now. I just spent 10 minutes going over all of the accessories and couldn't find backs anywhere.

My gripes.

*No Hero3 Motorsports Edition. This means I have to buy the seperate suction cup piece

*No skeleton case (for now). So this means although they have the optional audio out, does this mean I'm going to run the GoPro3 with no case? Or do I have to drill the case.

*They now require a seperate adapter if you are going to run an external mic. It's not very expensive, but it's one more additional piece that I didn't need before.

*I don't need a wireless remote. My iphone5 has the app and I can use that to control it. But, if you want the best quality camera (black edition), you have to buy the whole bundle (and cough out nearly $400). I don't need the remote.... and there is no black edition bundle without it.

*MicroSD .. I guess I am going to end up sitting on a 32GB SD card that I won't use since my digital camera uses CF and I already have extra SD cards..

SO....with those thoughts in mind, I'm not sure what I'll do... probably end up getting the black and buy the dumb adapter so I can use the external mic and figure out how to run a case with the external mic and buy the suction cup and try to sell the stupid remote.... either that or the remote will sit next to my Alpine head unit remote.. in the box it came in..

Just not sure this is quite what I was hoping they would do with their upgrade.
if you would have kept the hero 2 you could have just used that to record the audio via the mic jack (only need to record the audio once)

yeah the sd card change sucks

they are supposedly coming out with a new skeleton case that will fit the hero 3

they are also supposedly coming out with a motorsport version

I like the fact that Sony will be 270 with built in wifi, and Sony has a good track record with their lens development.

I'll be curious to see what GoPro does... they have historically not updated models and come out with additional packages after their initial product release. They add accessories, but the base packages have been the same... soooo..with that in mind, I'm curious to see if they will indeed add a motorsports edition. Personally, I like the black edition..just take out the remote and add the suction cup in and call it motorsports....that would be fine for me... of course, i'm still stuck buying a microsd card (a 32gb sandisk class 10 card is $29 @ B&H) and a skeleton case (if they ever make one)

regardless, who know what i'll have next year.... i'd love to do a comparison of the shots i took with the Hero, Hero2, and Hero3 but I'm not sure if I'm going to the Dragon next year so someone else will have to do a comparo shoot.
