Yea I'm actually going to wait until they get this one right... I was an early adopter to the Hero2 system when it first came out, and although I'm still very happy with it, I feel trolled by GoPro because they released the wifi bacpac software LAST WEEK, which just by the way, renders your remote useless as you can now use your smartphone/tablet device.... They officially Apple'd their product lifecycles, this is not good for a company like GoPro who only offers one product line (cameras) with complementary goods ("accessories").

The Hero3 I'll prbably buy right before RTD (if I can come out) to give it a proper "field test" but for right now, I'd love it if someone stepped up (Bama) buys it, and reviews it properly.

 

So who wants to sell me their Hero2 for cheap?

I think I'm going to go the Sony action cam route. I like GoPro, but they seem to be getting their marketing lessons from Apple.

 

I sold my GoPro2 and I'm second guessing that move now...

My gripes.

*No Hero3 Motorsports Edition. This means I have to buy the seperate suction cup piece

*No skeleton case (for now). So this means although they have the optional audio out, does this mean I'm going to run the GoPro3 with no case? Or do I have to drill the case.

*They now require a seperate adapter if you are going to run an external mic. It's not very expensive, but it's one more additional piece that I didn't need before.

*I don't need a wireless remote. My iphone5 has the app and I can use that to control it. But, if you want the best quality camera (black edition), you have to buy the whole bundle (and cough out nearly $400). I don't need the remote.... and there is no black edition bundle without it.

*MicroSD .. I guess I am going to end up sitting on a 32GB SD card that I won't use since my digital camera uses CF and I already have extra SD cards..


SO....with those thoughts in mind, I'm not sure what I'll do... probably end up getting the black and buy the dumb adapter so I can use the external mic and figure out how to run a case with the external mic and buy the suction cup and try to sell the stupid remote.... either that or the remote will sit next to my Alpine head unit remote.. in the box it came in..

Just not sure this is quite what I was hoping they would do with their upgrade.
