I am going down this weekend to test run the Bridge to Nowhere Saturday drive.

I'll be leaving Dayton around 5:00, so I won't get in the vicinity until around 11-12. i love driving the Dragon at night!

I tried to call Fontana, but they must not be open yet from COVID-19. Their online booking site is also offline. I may just throw a tent in the trunk and rough it, like the 2018 West Coast trip.

I don't know if Fontana Village plans to open this year. The operators released their lease back to the TVA as of June 1. TVA owns the property so I assume it will be up to them what happens going forward. Hopefully it will work out for y'all this year.

 

You could try the microtel in robbinsville.

 

Aaron suggested Dragon's Rest Cabins. That's where I will be staying for 2 nights.

 

Until I get definitive word (or July 20) I'm planning on being there. I've done some investigating of other places to stay but so has everybody else. I'll keep everyone posted as I learn more.

 

Don’t camp in North Carolina it’s not open yet. We found that out with the North Carolina Wildlife Department. Have fun and enjoy.

 

I'm going to push this back to Wednesday/Thursday. I'm having the car ceramic coated this morning and I can't get an oil change in before I leave.

Tammy and I are going to Gatlinburg Friday morning through Sunday so we’ll be tooling around the area.
