Might be a good idea to have a backup place if it's raining - is there a nearby park with a shelter?

Has anyone ever come across someone at the bottom of the Dam that works there? Now that I am thinking about it, I don't know that I have ever seen anyone at the bottom or the Top. We might just have to try it and see what happens.

I know the Miatas at the Gap have had big gatherings at the bottom of the dam. They had some kind of catered food, like sandwiches. I saw pictures… sorry to be so vague. Maybe try calling the the Visitor Center at the top of the dam, maybe those folks would know. This is the number from their site (828) 498-2234
I guess Wildwood Grill is not able to do the picnics on the deck like we used to have on Friday nights? They are probably still short on help.

at CHOD last year there was a guy who came flying through honking the horn and yelling at people. He stopped at one of the sponsor booths and started screaming at them how the locals were tired of all these people. He said his peace then drove up to the gate, opened it, drove in and closed the gate going into the dam on the left. I went and found Niles and told him what happened and as it was close to the end of the day he said maybe we should start wrapping up but I don’t think they were too concerned.

I spent several hours over four days trying to reach someone at that number before I found, what is supposed to be, the correct TVA number.

Check with Marie about having it on the ballfield. The last time I did it there it was around $12 to $15 a person for hot dogs and hamburgers, A second place might be the patio by the Wildwod Grill.

I already spoke with Marie about the Ballfield. She said it's a no-go. I did finally reach the TVA and the Dam parking lot is a go.

One of the group goals is to expand membership so the club doesn't die. Unfortunately many are struggling for funds and $50 a person for a several in a family is not possible. I do not know if I will ever be able to do these banquets again because I just can't ask my family and friends to spend $hundreds on food one night, as well as pay fancy car expenses...

Having my family and friends groups with me is much more important than a banquet. How I enjoyed them very much in the past. When I am rich, I will pay their way to the banquet.

Either way is ok with me but my son would actually eat Hot Dog/ Hamburgers vs. what ever might be at the banquet.(picky eaters ugh) So overall leaning towards doing something at the Dam parking lot. Question I would have is .....What about seating for everyone, chairs, tables, etc. (god forbid)What if weather is an issue?

The only back up plan we would have for weather is moving it to Saturday night. Hopefully that won't be an issue, but we will deal with it as we get closer. I am bringing my truck so we can get the necessary items there to make the dinner happen. I will bring a couple of tables and chairs but only what I have available to me. If you have a small collapsable chair that you could bring, that would be recommended.
