Default One of the Real Reasons

This is from another forum written by a motorcycle rider. He spells it out very accurately as to the reason for the crackdown.
Of course two wheelers are not the only ones who caused this to happen. we all have seen evidence of stupid behavior on car drivers as well.
Before anyone gets their feelings hurt, I am not referring to anyone on this forum. I think our group has the best reputation out there for mature behavior.

That's actually pretty well said.

I'm not so sure he's doing much more than complaining about the growing popularity of the area. His claim of "too many TN citizens complaining" is a load of crap. There's no homes or business on the TN side of the dragon for quite a ways so who are these "citizens"? He states that part of the problem is the "wheelies and stunts in front of the store". I haven't heard that NC was involved in the crackdown or that the owner was complaining about anything. He implies that Killboy is part of the problem. Don't think so. It's been my experience that people try not to screw up while having their picture made. Have you guys seen a lot of "squids" going down in front of Killboy's crews while showing off? I'm sure they would post them if they had 'em. He touches on the friction between the cruisers and rockets . . . so? The only credible reason for the crackdown he mentions is the "squids" crashing. An inevitability where the growing reputation of the place is concerned. A rep on the fast track to legend that's spread far and wide as only the net can do. Humans are insatiably curious - especially the adventrous ones and so, they come. More and more every season. This is the core of his gripe with the situation. He 's not coming back because there's too many there trying to emulate him. It's not the "crackdown", it's the crowds. He's just trying to use it as a tool to punish less experienced unfortunates and impatient self ordained racer's like himself. The real reason for the "crackdown" is simply muscle flexing by new management in Nashville. That initial overreaction has already been reduced somewhat from what I've heard (and seen personally). I feel his frustration but the increase in LEO's will go away - the "squids" will not. Actually, the LEO presence will become moot if the popularity of the area keeps growing as it does. Weekends are almost impossible as it is now. Controversy like the "crackdown" only bolsters it's infamy - which draws more people.

Well said Robin.....

As much as we say stay away from the Dragon and spend out money in NC... we are already doing that... and have the last few events....

Sooner or later the Dragon will become open again..... they can't keep thgat kind of presence up for too long.....

Or, lets take a few criminals down there and let them rob a few banks while all the police are on the Dragon!! n Oppps... who said that?
