So I got my Radios from amazon. They aren't too shabby for $40. We did a test run on a 1 watt GMRS band, I was in my house, she was in her car driving home. We had a decent connection, up until she was blocked by a large hill. She was aproximately 1-1.5 miles away, then there was no line of sight. Thats when the connection crapped out.

I was expecting this, but for caravans and group communication this will probably be ok. Although its nowhere near the 8 mile range they stated, but this is a well known fact. I may look into those more hard core ones later on, but I think this is fine for me.
