I think the better question is .... is it open yet?

 

Fontana Village isn't at this time. But the roads around it sure are!

 

We drove through Fontana Village Resort Saturday and it was sad seeing it empty.

 

I bet it was. I just hope they can resolve any issues they are having and get it re-opened. There are a lot of large groups that go down there and stay as they can handle the numbers.

 

did you drive out the back side and do that really ultra twisty road that takes out to near Tapoca?

I didn't unfortunately. That looks like Meadow Branch Rd (1247) to Rhymers Ferry Rd (1246) from Tapoco to Fontana Village. We took Hellbender (28) from Tapoco where we had lunch.

 

I stayed in Robbinsville, at Dragon's Rest, Wednesday-Friday. Went into the front entrance, and there only the hotel vans up at the lodge. Driving around the complex was eerie. It was like a ghost town.

There was a work pickup on site. We waved, as I stopped at the General Store to get on the Wi-fi (it was working!)

Went up Meadow Branch and missed Rhymer's Ferry and ended up at the electrical station at the end of the road.

 

Is it time to go yet?
