I could be wrong but I don't believe that Tennessee or North Carolina can stop trucks from using that road. It is a federal highway (US 129). It is funded with federal money. If the federal designation was removed I doubt that the road would be in the good shape that it is.

I know that it is completely stupid but they have the right to drive that road. I do think that both states should have to provide escorts to clear the way.

I wasn't arguing their right to drive it. Only their extremely poor judgement.
