I'd definitely wear a T-Shirt in the winter! haha I was just wondering if you have made sweaters or have seen any for sale with general S2K logos. I guess not specific to this Tail of the Dragon event. Just wondering. Thanks for the awesome design!
Oh, gotcha. Right now the logo you see can only be used with special occasions, it can't be sold in a store. More motivation to register!
Already registered! Can't wait!!! Going to be my first Dragon Event and it seems awesome!

Looking forward to meeting you. I will have extra shirts for sale at the meet so if you didn't order one when you registered, you will be able to purchase one there. (and make sure you thank Aaron for the great design).

I already ordered my shirt and I definitely look forward to meeting everyone too!

Also, I'll be sure to get him a beer during one of the dinners! haha

Most of the people in here have experienced the dragon countless times over the years, so they might not remember what it felt like for the first time. Maybe they do, but they might overlook how big of a deal it is experiencing it for the first time. I will tell you what you will feel. It's still very fresh in my mind from 3 years ago. Then, I'll recommend what mistakes I made. Don't make my mistakes and you will have a better time!

My huge mistake was a simple one, I didn't know how important tires are for the dragon. I purchased a used set of ap2v1 rims that winter and they had the original oe tires, the RE 050's. The fronts had plenty of thread left, the rears not so much, but little to my knowledge, the set of 050's were 10 years old and basically dry rotted. I didn't know and never bothered to look. Not knowing anything, I purchased a set of ZII's for the rear and cheaped out on the fronts, lol. That totally ruined my confidence and handling. I fought through every turn and I hated myself my entire trip.

My one huge suggestion is, buy a new set of 4 tires. ZII's, RE-71's, or something that has really good grip. The dragon is like a never ending autox that demands a lot out of your tires. My buddies, a lot of the NY metro track guys buy a fresh set of tires just for the dragon event. I followed that routine and my 2nd year was so much fun because of it. This will be my 3rd year and I went further and added a square setup!! Woohooo!

If you follow my suggestion, know your limits, and appreciate what the dragon offers, you will come back in one piece. If you are careless, don't respect the road, and have a car that's not well maintained, the dragon will not be kind to you.

Hope you can make it to the event, it's a life changer.
Fantastic write up! My MY05 Berlina is low mileage, well maintained, with a fresh set of Nokian ZLine tires. Super grippy and only 5K of the 35-50K tread life on them. The road I live on has a few twists and sweeping turns, with elevation changes added in. I've made the Rabbit Hash run in N. KY last year, which was a workout for me (my first S2000 group drive), learning how to work with a group of fellow S2000 owners.

I think my spouse is warming up to the idea. This is our first true sports car (my 05 Infiniti G35x doesn't count in this case) and we are both learning about being part of a car enthusiast community. We'll sit down and talk it over this weekend, as lodging in Fontana is almost full for the event.
Just let your spouse drive it once. My Fiance loved it and really gained a respect for the car. Now she ALWAYS wants to co-Pilot. She locked the seat belt, moved the seat forward and holds on.

Registering for this Tomorrow! Since I will be getting married in Asheville the weekend of WTD I was pumped to see a summer Dragon Event. Living in WNC I sometimes forget how amazing our roads are - and it's tough finding local people who enjoy them also! The soon to be wife and I will be there!! She's pumped to get a few runs in herself.

I guess I'll be doing a solo tech day...I have some AP2v1's and Star Specs to mount!

For sure. I was able to make it last spring and for 1 day during the fall event. I've put 20,000 miles on my car since the Spring Event last year. ~7500 commuting to work in the summer/driving around town and ~12500 miles all around WNC, East Tennessee, and North Georgia. Sorry, Western Virginia...haven't driven your roads yet...

Spring To Do List:

Mount AP1v1 wheels/Star Spec 215/255
Alignment
New CAT
Clutch Master/Slave replacement
Re-upholster center console arm rest
Steel Brake Lines Maybe?!
Endlessly try to better my oil consumption Currently at ~1700-2000 miles/Qt

We're hoping to make this event, my vacation request for WTD was denied. If Fontana is booked we will try to find some cabins close by. We might be able to make it a family event again, but both kids are married now so I will have to wait and see. Ken, Kendal's wife has a black CRX that is a nice car, and he has found a white one for a daily driver(not running at the moment) to go with the red turbocharged one.

1700-2000mi/Qt?! That is nothing...I get roughly 1k-1.5k miles per Qt

I had to bail on the WTD event so I will be making it to the Summer event also!

Justin I will probably be leaving for the Dragon on June 3rd from Charlotte if you want to cruise up together?

I have a block of 20 rooms at Fontana and if that gets close to being taken, I can add more rooms. I refuse to have people stay all over two states when everyone can stay at Fontana.

Nice! I really like his CRX. That is one bad car...
