Can some one give me a sensible reason as to why the registration closed 3.5 weeks prior to the event?
Not everyone can plan their lives a year out and only get comformation back about leave a few weeks prior to taking it.
Kinda bitter about it if you didn't pick it up.

Some of the reasons registration closes a bit before the event is due do to the planning needed to pull the event off:
* Registration packets made
* Meals provided need to be ordered
* T-Shirts ordered and printed
* Lanyards and name tags ordered
* Magnets ordered
I'm sure I'm missing a few things, but that is all I can think of at the moment.
It is unfortunate that currently there is not a way for the group to handle last minute registrants.
