Just thought I'd share this site, launched just 2 weeks ago by Blount Co. Sheriff's Office: Dragon Awareness It gives safety tips, statistics and all-around good info for Dragon visitors new and old. Please share with anyone you know that visits the area, this is the kind of awareness we've been wanting to spread

Pretty succinct. Demonstrates an appreciation of the Road and a logical, non-threatening approach to safety.

Party's over folks. All they want to educate is people's wallets. The dragon is a cash cow for the county. If all of the people cited for the last three months only had to pay court fees it would add up to $126k.

That is some pretty good information. I didn't know that the fatality rate was that high.

When the THPatrolman that popped me last Spring -- when I was in a CAR driving AWAY from the Tail at a higher-than-the-speed-limit-but-still-calm-and-safe speed -- said, as he was writing the ticket, that they'd had quite a few BIKE accidents so they're trying to slow the BIKES down going INTO the Tail, I knew it wasn't about safety.

They're overinflated. Killboy mentioned it the other day on Facebook how the Blount Co. Sheriff's Department uses "U.S. Highway 129" and "Tail of the Dragon" almost interchangeably. So if someone is killed by a semi in, let's say Maryville, it basically happened on the Dragon.
