only a quick reply, i have not had time to read all the posts... but when i booked i did read on this forum that final payment would be made on the weekend in question however, with the current climate i think the request made is perfectly acceptable and it is only a month before!!! the s2000 is not going to be in production after july this year so we all need to have fun and celebrate an amazing car....

we cannot expect our hosts to pick up bills because people back out, if you cannot pay let somebody else on the waiting list go...

LTB, please take no notice of the few whingers. As far as you and the other organisers are concerned, you've already done a great job getting to this stage and I don't think you should dignify some of the remarks with polite responses.

I organised a meet here a couple of years back and while the attendance wasn't anything like EM2009, there was still a lot to do and think of. Thankfully, most people who go to these meets are really nice guys who share a common interest and want to have a good time who will appreciate what you and the others have done.

This meet is going to be fantastic, blimey, I see there's even a bloke going from Canada on the list - that's dedication!!!! Me, I have to catch two ferries, drive around xxxxmiles and take time away from family and work when there is lots of pressure to be with both at that time of year and I'm still going to miss a blast around the 'Ring after all that! But I knew all this when I signed up, so there's absolutely no complaints from me.

To all the organisers, and all those route leaders, and anyone who is helping in whatever fashion , I say THANK YOU!
Having organised group holidays for a retired association, it has always been our policy to collect the money up front before the departure date. What some people seem to be missing is this is a GROUP venture not a lot of individuals making bookings. Hotels etc. require absolute committment for all the good reasons previously stated on this thread. All group travel companies require you to have full insurance cover as well, and in the case of Euromeet 2009, you are foolish if you don't.
I am travelling round the world at the moment and I had to pay for ALL my booked accommodation before I left the UK in April last year. Additionally I changed my plans so that I would be back a week before this fantastic event - I assume I will make it back in time, I assume my 'S' is ok, I assume it will make it - but one thing is damn certain, I have paid and I WILL BE THERE!

I am glad that the vast majority of you understand and accept the reasoning behind the final payment.

I am also, as always, amazed by your enthusiasm, dedication and commitment.

I there!!!
Just new on S2Ki!

I totally agree with the Organization of the Euromeet and the first post of LTB!
It is normal that the local Hotel-keepers, and providers, want to be sure they are paid at the end of the Euromeet.
Why doing such a MESS for paying one month in advance as we all knew (when booking) that we would have to pay something at the end of the Meet?

For my part, I pay whenever I'm asked to pay and that's it!

What is the difference paying mid March or mid April?

I sincerely hope we have a Great Euromeet next Easter!!!
I'll be there, and pay the organization as soon as I receive the invoice/bill!!!

Best Regards
Alex
